Taking the opportnity considering no one else seems to want to post. ================= Time lapse ================= Her maw shook thoughtfully. It had been a long time since she had hunted like this as part of a pack, and even then her involvement in the matter was very limited- she was younger even more so than she was now. Her optics shifted about nervously as she lacked the entire ability to keep still for more than 5 seconds. It was un-nerving, being apart of a pack that seemed to expect so much out of you. And still that wound stung. Managing to push all thoughts to the back of her mind, her maw tilted to the side as her eyes fell on Snow. "How do we know when to strike..?" Her voice was kept low so that the males could hear nothing- even though she doubted they had strayed very far- and if a wolf could blush then she'd do so at this very moment. Her tail flickered, half way through concentrating on the scenery before her, but half expecting Snow's answer to perform miraculous work.

Bruno was a good distance ahead of the females, scoping the area. A few stray grazers seem to have seperated from the herd, his eyes shot to the horizon where the rest of the herd had moved on to. His breathing was almost in perfect tune with his heart rate, only due to the fact that if he wanted to be one of the top males in their newly form pack, he must proove himself during this hunt, of all. His ears lie generally flat against his skull to avoid them rubbing against any lowlying branches. The soil was dry and rather easily shifted across the underlying clay. In this, he decided to move to the grass where he could crouch until someone else would arrive to his spot; the sight of the prey was beautiful in his eyes- he loved the adhrenaline rush right before the pack swarms in to bring the bigger ones down, although this wasn't going to be an extremely massive kill. It was just enough to feed everyone.

Saidin padded along at the rear of the odd little pack, his thoughts roaming while his senses scoured the surrounding brush for any likely candidates for the role of Prey. Yes, this wolf was capable of multitasking... to a point. He could move, hunt, and think at the same time, anyway. He was hyperactive, not dense. But back to the subject at hand. Prey. Thick, warm, juicy, fresh prey. Oh yes. It had been some time since he'd gotten so much as a whiff of a decently-sized kill. There was just something about cervine flesh that was different, richer, than mere rabbit or the occasional grouse. The dark-pelted wolf abruptly backtracked– figuratively speaking– mentally reviewing the more recent scents that had passed his nostrils. Small rodents, decaying leaves on the ground, Ooo, a beaver?! Interesting, but his attention had been really caught by- "Deer!" He exclaimed, instantly thrilled. "Deer, over there, look! Can you smell them? Well, of course you can smell– look, deer! Deer!" Excited, he bounded past the two faes, giving Kota an animated grin as he sprinted by. Deer! Prey! Meat!! Racing ahead, he almost didn't spot Bruno waiting for them, and for all intents and purposes appeared ready to continue his dash for the deer.

Snow was about to answer Kota, but was caught off gaurd by Saidin leaping forth and running towards the herd of deer she herself had also spotted. Quiet snarl leapt from her throat as she bounded forth, knocking herself into the male. Silly, silly. You'll scare them! While her words were playful, they were ragged with anger as she surveyed the male. We'll walk around them to find the easiest catch. The bigger ones, the bucks, will kill you. We don't have enough power to bring one down. At the best, a lively fawn, the way you've just behaved. She shuddered, then calmed herself down. My apologies. I've forgotten how to hold my tounge. Really though. At the very best, we could catch a doe. She sighed, then turned to Kota. You'll know when we organize ourselves. Sweetsnow bounded ahead quietly, bringing herself to Bruno's side. See anything promising?
Creamy fae stepped out from the shadows, far behind the small hunting group. As soon as she realized their presence, she turned to face them, a small snarl automatically bubbling up her throat and playing in her maw. She narrowed her eyes, turning her head ever so slightly to look for Charlie. She looked back to the group, mainly to Saidin and Kota, who were closer to her than Snow and Bruno were. Are you the pack that's been dwelling here? Her words were harsh, unintentionally of course. She was just wary. The brute she had encountered had scared her. Enough to make her jump at shadows. While she hadn't spoken to him directly, his very aura was enough to make her shiver. She looked up to Snow and Bruno, narrowing her eyes to survey them more steadily, then saw a herd in the distance. Instantly, her mouth watered, but she swallowed quickly, ignoring the quiet rumble of her stomach.

[glow=red,2,300]Bruno admired Snow- soft words leeked from his lips, "Indeed. If Saidin doesn't scare them off. We have to wait for the perfect opportune moment." He crouched low to the ground, almost at a sit, but more of a lean; his body level to the ground. He turned to look at Snow, what beauty she possessed ... it slightly distracted the male. His gaping jaw clamped back shut and he blinked innocently. The sound of 'DEER' made him switch back to the prey. Watching Saidin with his bountifullness screaming towards them like a train off the tracks, his eyes peirced back to the prey as their heads began to rise. He was half expecting Saidin to zoom past them so his hind legs revved up to bolt toward the group of doe. The buck was near, meaning everyone would have to be exceptionally skillfull not to be injured by him. Bucks where indeed dangerous, as Snow had said. Suddenly, he bolted toward the deer, "Corner this one! Saidin! Come quick!" He took account to Saidin's anxiousness and hoped that his energy would help move the doe towards the other two who where waiting in ambush.[/glow]
ooc:// SWITCH TO CHARLIE NOW.
Charlie trotted up slowly to Araida keeping close to her side. His possessive characteristics shown lowly like a lighter lit in the night; "Charlie, nice to meet you." His choppy sentences made him sound dull, but truthfully he was quite nervous around other wolven. In the distance he could hear another male blurting out commands to others and he assumed that he was the one in charge of whatever was going on in the area. "It's nice out here, what is he hollering about?" The swift scent of deer clouded his nostrils and his body began to quiver with hunger. He stood closely to Araida, so close infact that his body was touching hers. He needed her warmth to calm himself; Charlie didn't do well in large groups- especially if he was unfarmiliar with the others. He dipped his maw in respect to the elders of the territory.

Saidin's headlong quest for venison was quickly and luckily brought to an abrupt halt. He wheezed for breath without looking up, scrambling to get his paws back under him. He'd been going so fast, been so focused, that the unexpected attack had knocked him straight to the ground. How had Bruno reached him so quickly? Sure, he was faster than the average wolf, but... then his tackler began to speak. Sweetsnow? A mental note was made to not underestimate this fae. Ink-black ears crushed themselves against the sides of his head as she berated him, and rightfully so. He hadn't MEANT to, it was just... they were right there– so close. Oh! That was right; the deer were right there. Distress faded away as if it had never been, and the grey-chested wolf clambered to his feet. "Oh, hello!" He greeted the newcomers. Pack? "I guess we are. I'm Saidin, great to meet–" Then Bruno was shouting for him and he took off, his attention flitting from one subject to the next to yet another with complete, if not almost reckless, abandon. The urgency in the other brute's voice prodded him forward. The hunt was on. Though... this was more than mere Hunt, this was the Chase, the– hopefully– the Kill. The fleet-footed wolf surged forward, catching up to Bruno and following the other's lead. Bistre brown eyes scanned the scattering grazers in their path, trying to discern which one Bruno had targeted.

Her deep blue orbs quickly darted about the scene, not helping the fact that she remained slightly confused. 'Slightly' being a dramatic understatement, of course. It also didn't help that Snow's reply had been quite vague- if she didn't know that, then surely it would've been a little closer to common sense to elaborate. Shrugging the thought off, and regardless of her confusion, she kept herself at the back of the 'pack', only creeping forward when the appearance of the new wolves appeared. Instantly her hackles rose protectively, yet she somehow managed to hide the snarl that so openly threatened to flash her fangs. However, despite her discomfort of the wolven, she kept herself quiet, listening yet giving no opinion of her own. Not even so much of an offering of her name. Instead, she simply waited paitently for so much of an order.

You two, She barked towards Aradia and Charlie, If you came to join the pack, help us bring down this doe. Stay behind us and leap on her when I give the signal. Kota. When she comes towards us, we'll jump on her. I'll go for the throat, you just try to knock her down. Snow said, crouching down to wait for the males to drive her to them.
Charlie's nearness to her bothered her, they were too close for comfort. After all, she had just met the brute a while ago. She leaned away from him, but not too far, she knew Charlie more than this other group. Audits flicked at Snow's words, orbs taking the femme in. She leapt, now, to crouch in some brush behind Kota and Snow.

BRUNO: His thought process churned and planned, so much as though it was playing like a movie in his mind. He tilted one ear to the rear, something distracting was behind him, but his eyes never departed from one of the foes. He was hoping the others where in tune with which doe had been chosen and deemed the victim. It was medium in size with slight fat rounding its underbelly, chosen sololy because he thought it was enough for the pack and still not too much of a challange for some of the new comers. He stood patiently uncertainty clouded his path; he wondered if he should spring toward the three and seperate the victim or be the defense of the pack and chase off the buck; since he was visibly in the distance. Sweetsnow looked up at him from her posistion on the ground, blinking. She was patient- she just wanted to see where Bruno's eyes were, and what path he was to take. What are you planning? She asked simply, her voice low enough so that the sound was nothing more than another whisper on the wind to the prey.

A tingle was fed through Bruno's body, almost like a spark of electricity was ignited and sent through at an alarming rate. His voice low and he spoke carefully, "Snow, the one to the way left, has the lightest underbelly, medium size and good weight. It's going to have to be brought down by ambush. The plan," his voice trailed off as he tried to remain as quiet as possible. His tongue hanged low out of his gaping maw sorting out the tenseness in the air. He turned to look at Snow and he blinked bashfully, "I'll chase her to the group, but be prepared to help bring this girl down; I might have to seperate from everyone if the buck does decide to defend one of his fair ladies." He sighed hoping that the buck would just retreat with the others, he didn't want to be faced with such power, especially alone.
Without further adue, he turned and gave Snow a quick smile and dashed toward the chosen one. His muscles rippled with every beating stride not because of how built he was, but because of lack of nutrition; this meal was vital for survival for him and most likely for the group. He yelped and let out distracting noises trying to make the little herd frantic and disoriented.
ooc;// I would carry on with the kill part, but I'm really interested to see what others want to put into this scene.

It was a good while since she had been able to get a decent meal down her throat- and it was this thought and this thought alone that drove the female forward. Slender and agile, the wolf ran with the wind against her pelt. It was a joyous feeling, even if the prey before her was a meal she rather save for more desperate measures. However, that moment was drawing near, and if she prolonged the hunt any further than she may just become the prey to scavenging hunters herself. The thought sent a shiver rippling through her muscles, but it only drove her on. The female had been here for several weeks, living off what she could catch. It was retched.
However, fortune struck for the female..
The muscles in her legs hesitated, mind flowing with wonder at the speculation before her; that was a wolf before her... Surely? Stealing the very doe she was aiming to catch. A growl erupted the silence before her, but her pace gradually slowed to a stop. A sly grin played about her maw, and she watched with interest as she spotted one, two.. Three maybe four more behind the first. A pack, it seemed. Her head cocked to the side, ears erect as her eyes danced along the scene. Perfect...

Bruno eyed Kota as he sprang forth to the doe. Barking and yelping to disorient the herd, hoping, praying that the doe would separate without any immense outputs of energy. His peripherals gave him a good sight of the buck behind a couple other malnutritioned doe. As if the game couldn't be more perfect, she separated from the group. Bruno's eyes suddenly turned and his focus was not on the buck anymore, but rather the sweet nectar of a warm kill. As his barks escaped his maw he nipped at the heals of the doe trying to convince her to drop her head and throw her back end into the air-- it would be the perfect time to snag at her throat. His strategy was planned rather thoroughly in his mind, but he wasn't sure if the others would know what Bruno was trying to do.
ooc;// switch!
Charlie felt an ever so slight breeze brush past him and the fae. He thought quietly to himself as of why this would happen, especially since he regarded himself as suave. He snuffed air through his nostrils and grumbled as he took the hint and moved a couple steps over. It wasn't long after Charlie had moved before she had pranced off into some brush. Charlie was eager to see what was going on with the group, but before departing Snow's sight, he dismissed himself. Although the group was somewhat formed into an ambush position, Charlie's body was groggy and hungry, yet another thing on his mind-- something he found more important than the packs first kill, he knew it was unlikely for a brand new pack member to eat the first night anyways; he wanted a place to rest for the night.

Snow's eyes twinkled lightly as Bruno sprang off, a low rumbling coming from her throat. It was time. Her mouth watering, she sprung to the side as Kota ran forth. She bound forth, in Kota's same steps, and swerved to the side as the other femme stopped. Audits flicked as she came to a rest as well, automatically letting out another low growl, looking to Kota. Now a whine parted her lips, eyes questioning, as Bruno teased at the doe. She sprang ahead of Kota now, claws digging into the ground as she came towards the kill. Kota. You get the neck. I'll help bring it down. Come on. She yelled back, as she avoided a well placed kick. Crown raised to glance to the buck, a fleeting look, before she focused on the doe. She backed up, then sprang, landing perfectly on the deer's back. Claws dug into the shoulders, and teeth found their mark on the base of it's neck. She felt herself slipping. But she only needed to hold on until Kota leapt for the neck. She looked up to Kota now, before biting into it harder.

Saidin raced at the rear, helping Bruno to harry the doe along. Her panicking flight took her farther and farther away from the rest of the fleeing herd– further away from any hope of help. Occasionally he sprang ahead, just close enough for her to spot him from the corner of an eye, to help herd her in the proper direction. He darted closer repeatedly, nibbling and snapping at the deer's meaty hind legs in anticipation of the meal that had to be coming. There was no way this one was getting away; they'd done it! Brought down some real prey. As Sweetsnow launched herself onto the doe's back and Kota went for her throat, Saidin tackled her near thigh, clawing and tearing and using his weight to help drag her onto her side. From there the little pack would have access to her soft underbelly and its fresh, steaming meat... already tasting that sweet meat, he redoubled his efforts and felt the animal begin to collapse, overwhelmed by their combined attack.

As the doe began to slip, Bruno released his grip. With a crash, soil was turned into a slight crevace from the doe they had just brought down. The packs first kill-- done with teamwork. His mouth finally free to gasp for air. He hadn't hunted in a while, and this was a quick reality check; everything isn't as easy as it seems. Instead of beginning to gorge himself with the fresh meat, he turned away, moving a few feet back to let everyone else get the first pickings. Bruno wasn't too much of a picky eater anyways- anything he could get was good enough for him. Although his passion was to be alpha, to reign as first eater, he respected the others that may have well been much more starving than he was. He thought about the other wolves before he made the decision of turning away, but he was a pretty unselfish kind of guy.
