Name: Saidin
Age: Three years
Height: Hmm, never had to specifically think about it. *googles averages* Eh, shall we say about 33, 34 inches? *shrugs* Just, large. Big. Intimidating. XD Until he opens his mouth.
Breed: Grey wolf
Gender: Male
Personality: Saidin is impulsive and impatient, which tends to make him a bad hunter since he hates remaining still for long periods of time and tends to jump for prey before it comes within his range. With a firm paw to keep him in line, however, he is capable of restraining himself– for a while. Ever amiable, he loves company, though being alone doesn't bother him... much. His exuberant, playful personality almost always keeps him out of trouble, more or less...when it isn't getting him into it.
Appearance: Large, black-pelted wolf with a grey chest and belly. His long, narrow muzzle is splattered with grey, giving the false appearance of age (and wisdom– hah!) Eyes are a dark color more brown than golden-yellow.
Example Post (aka his history. *grins*):
"He can't hunt, can't guard, his scouting's as likely to scare away the prey as find it, he isn't capable of holding a serious conversation for more than five minutes... I wouldn't even let him near my pups, much less watch them– he'd be twice as likely to get them into trouble than they would!!"
The alpha's outburst was more than audible to Saidin, who was crouching alongside the alpha den, his dark fur helping him to blend into the grass- and dirt-covered mound. Earlier that night his father and beta of the pack, Mabon, had left to meet with the alpha, his slightly worried glance at Saidin giving the young wolf cause to want to "take a quick walk" as soon as he thought it safe to venture out into the dark. If he happened to want to take a brief rest in a place where he might... happen... to overhear a few words, that wasn't a big deal, right? Wrong.
He heard his father quietly say something in reply, pleading....
"I'm sorry, Mabon, but three years is more than enough time. If he hasn't learned by now what makes you believe he'll learn later? Saidin is just a risk to the pack, an overgrown pup that's distracting at best, and prey-repellent at worst." Came the alpha's tired but firm reply. "I know what he means to you, but he's got to go. Within a week, or I'll chase him out myself." There was more, but Saidin didn't stick around to hear it. He'd heard enough.
It took five days for his father to tell him, and by then he'd had enough time to resign himself to his fate, even look forward to it a little. Freedom, unlimited roaming, action...it wouldn't be that bad. And he'd have time to try improving those skills everyone had known he was rather lacking in...even himself. So when the time came to leave, it was Mabon who was surprised to find his son ready, and with a smile too– though it would have been unnatural if the grin wasn't more than a little sad.
((Oops, that wouldn't shrink. I tried, I swear!! I cut out several of the introductory/explanatory paragraphs to leave just the one scene...but I really like it, and isn't it good?? *hugs Saidin* Poor pup.))
